Become a Penpal – Online!

Those who want to build a long-term relationship with an incarcerated trans or queer person can now utilize our entirely online and free penpal-matching and correspondence program. Sign up for a penpal, then read and write all of your mail from home! We hope this will help people communicate consistently, especially during a time when visiting the post office is not an option for many.

Penpal Nights

We have hundreds of currently incarcerated queer and trans folks waiting to be matched with a penpal. Penpal relationships can vary, but most folks inside simply want more connection to the outside world so that they feel less isolated. Although this means of support impacts only one person at a time, its effects can ripple outwards in ways we love to see!

Note: Our Penpal Night events are currently on an indefinite hold due to COVID-19.

Write Birthday Cards – Online!

If you are unable to take on the responsibility of writing a penpal on a regular basis, birthday cards are another great way to show love and support! Your one-time messages also help us open new lines of dialogue with queer & trans communities inside as people write back to our PO Box.
