Power Blossoms is an abolitionist organization whose core membership exists on both sides of prison walls. When we asked our core inside members in 2020 what they wanted us to focus on next and they overwhelmingly selected care packages, we were thrilled to leap into action! Their contributions make Power Blossoms’ work possible, and our supplying them with direct financial support in turn strikes us as mutual aid in its most concrete form. (It’s not surprised us to hear that some of the funds and supplies we’ve sent are being redistributed on the inside.)

We followed up by sending our inside members the survey below; their responses both informed us of their individual needs and shaped the direction this program has taken in the years since. We encourage you to look over what they wrote—and to get to know them better over time as we share their work on our site and on social media! (Several of our inside members are still looking for penpals.)

100% of the funds we raise for this project go to care packages and commissary accounts! (Project receipts here.) We are supported entirely by community donations: we are not a nonprofit, we have no staff, and we take no money from the State or private foundations.

If you’re able to, please make a donation today via Venmo or Cash App!

(To help us avoid the punishment Venmo has inflicted on similar mutual-aid projects, we ask that you use only emoji like “💜📦🌸” in the “What’s it for?” line—and never select “Goods or Services.”)

Even if you can’t contribute monetarily right now, you can still help grow our work by sharing this page, participating in our Letter-Writing project, or getting actively involved in our organizing.
